Windy with an icy blast

I could hear the wind as I woke up yesterday morning, looking out over the pool I noticed that they had sectioned off part of it as they were giving the palms a haircut, maybe not the best day to do it as they were bowing in the wind.

Being a northern girl, I put a cardi on to go for my walk and spotted the Spanish as they were bundled up in hats, coats and scarves. Mind you the wind had an icy blast to it and I was informed by a lady, that the wind was coming from Grenada. I doubt that, I think it was coming down from the North Yorkshire Moors!

I headed off to the 'Casa Museo' in the centre of the village. For the entry price of €1 you were given an overview of how life was in the campo and the pueblo, the production of wine and olive oil and making woven  goods. very interesting.

There was also a mock up of the house of  Manuel Cortes Quero, who hid in the village for 30 years without ever being discovered ( this was to do with the Spanish civil war), he eventually came out of hiding in 1969.

The museum is well set out and informative, with great exhibits  and if you visit the village it should be on your list of things to do.

I then moved onto do a tasting of Malagan wines ( sherries really) and let me tell you, doing this at 10.30am was probably  not the best idea, but it really was a great experience. The sherries and  vermouth were of exceptional quality and I  have a bottle of the said vermouth to bring home.

I then headed  down to the Cafe Bella Vista for pan con tomate , which soaked up some of the alcohol.

Back at the hotel, the wind was still bracing but I found a sheltered spot on the main terrace and settled down to soak up some rays.  I noticed that the palms had been well and truly scalped..
I was planning an early night  but saw that they were putting the Christmas decorations  up in the reception, so decided to have a drink.
Gabriel continued to unsettle me with his chatty ways, I'm not sure I can take much more of him speaking to me !!!

The tree was up when I  left the bar and it looked lovely, simply decorated in white.

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
